Anne Patterson Rodda, Member, Accredited Genealogists Ireland, has a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) degree in Irish Studies from Drew University, Madison, New Jersey, USA. She specializes in tracing to the birthplaces of emigrants from Europe to America.  Starting with her own ancestors from Denmark, Germany, and Ireland, she became immersed in Irish genealogy over the years.  Her doctoral dissertation at Drew was titled “Trespassers in Time: Genealogists and Microhistorians” and a revised version is now published under that title through Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.
Anne’s research about the way a genealogist may place a family history in its historic context led to her conclusion that microhistory is the most useful methodology for genealogists.
A second book, Trespassing in Time: Family History as Microhistory, Applied to a Narrative of a Danish-American Seafaring Life, features a biography of Anne’s Danish grandfather that blends techniques of genealogy and microhistory.
