Dylan Lu obtained his PhD in History from University College London in 2017. He won the Charles Leslie Junior Scholar Essay Award in 2016, and the Dan David Prize scholarship in 2021. He has conducted research and teaching in several countries. His research interests are in the fields of medical history, modern history, intellectual history, and global history. His recent research mainly focuses on the exchange of medicinal and natural historical objects and related knowledge in Sino-European interactions in the eighteenth through early twentieth centuries. In addition, he also probes the history of modern mycology, and examines the making of the modern world as seen through border-crossing intellectuals and their transcultural experiences.
